Mirrored Side Table
Small side tables that have had mirrored glass embedded into them are extraordinarily unique. Generally they have to be hand worked, and the mirror part is usually beveled. For safety's sake as well as to strengthen the mirrors, the mirrored parts are ordinarily encapsulated within some sort of wood frame. Talk about owning an unforgettable style! Mirrored side table undoubtedly add an elegant flair to your room.
Many mirrored side tables are accentuated by either silvery tones that sparkle with the mirror or in gold tones sometimes with a crackle finish to resemble a treasured antique styling. Some of the mirrored side tables have a convenient pull drawer so that it can be used for some storage.
Some mirrored side table feature antique brass or aged bronze metal frames to encapsulate the mirrors. I have once seen an antique brass lamp with a jaunty silk shade sitting on such a mirrored side table. When the lamp was turned on, the light from the lamp struck the mirror beneath it, which cast a most interesting light show throughout the entire room as well as its walls. I was thoroughly mesmerized by the effect, and so would your guests!
Also if you are having problem tying in colors but if gold or silver will work, then a mirrored side table will work out marvelously. The gold or silver wood frame or brass or bronzed frame will be sumptuous when the mirrors reflect the rest of the room colors, thus you can treat them as if they were of the same colors, making it extremely easy to color match the mirrored side tables.
I've also seen some incredible mirrored side tables that featured an antique silver finish on them which were then topped off with antique gold leafing that were beyond exquisite. Anyone with discriminating taste would absolutely love to have a room decorated with these! These very elegant mirrored side tables provide an understated accent to whichever room you may use them in with regard to the character and charisma they bring.
Keep in mind too when you hunt for mirrored side table that you may find some in various antique stores. Often mirrored furniture pieces are not quite antiques, but they were very popular in Hollywood decorator showrooms back in the 1950s. There are however some extremely eclectic mirrored side tables that were popular in mid 18th century. Real antiques of this sort will have that "old timy" mirrored patina you desire, but be prepared to pay some astronomical prices for the real thing in mirrored side tables!
Decorators remind us too that when using mirrored furniture such as mirrored side tables, it is considered very chic to have other surfaces that are mirrored as well. For example planters with real plants in them in mirrored planters, or mirrored candlestick holders will tie in the mirrored look quite well. You will be very surprised how mirrored furniture and the use of supplementary mirrored accents bring in light to an otherwise darkened room.
